Hi , I love my Hitachi 10″ sliding compound saw. Fine saw, but fine is also all the dust when cutting. Very different of a 12 miter from Delta, that by connecting the vaccum to it’s dust port, I would say 98% of the dust is gone. But this one, and I suspect most of the slinding miter saw , make a ton of dust. The little bag supplied doesn’t cut it… Could any body could post a picture of a dust collection set up for this type of saw.. or at least describe a good way to stop the dust ( I am still sneezing from maple front drawers…
Thanks
Manny

We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.

I have the same saw you do and was amazed that the dust bag actually functioned. I went from the old 8 1/2" Hitachi where the dust bag was completely useless, so perhaps I am just that more tolerant of dust, but I would say that my saw gets a good 90 percent of dust generated in the bag. My saw has a little "dust deflector" (my words) that seems to be black neoprene or similar, directly behind the blade, and i suspect that this little bad boy contributes to its efficiency. Do you have this on your saw?

You guys need to compare blades also.If there is a dust bag on there, I'm sure that you could hook a vacuum hose to that point, and improve efficiency.
I use Freud blades, but I don't think it would make a big difference. I am sure that I am getting 90% dust collection with the stock set up no DC.John
