Howdy. I am looking around for a qualified woos carver to commission a low relief carving.
it’s been tough to find folks where I am in Canada and so I am openning up to see what the wider world brings. Anyone know an exceptional traditionally trained low relief carver? I’m looking for someone with experience carving repeating designs with the typical acanthus leaf motif.

Doing a Google search for “wood carving clubs near [closest decent-sized city]” might help you find some sources to contact. Certainly there are clubs scattered through US, too, but I’d be surprised if there aren’t some north of the border and more accessible to you. For instance, I’ve already found an Ontario Wood Carvers Assoc., the Northern Alberta Wood Carvers Assoc., the Medicine Hat Wood Carving Club, the Regina Woodcarvers, the Center Fraser Valley Wood Carvers (BC).
Now, I now Canada is a pretty dang big country, but there might be someone not too far away who happens to be a member of a club/association such as these. Though if you’re, say, north of Yellowknife, all bets are off. ;-)
You might check with Mary May. Her website address is: https://www.marymaycarving.com/carvingschool/
Click on the "Contact tab" at top of her page to describe what your after. No affiliation here other than using her school to improve my woodcarving skills.
