I have a Sear/Craftsman Flex Shaft Tool 572.251471. I bought it slightly used without the instruction.
What do you use to lube the shaft? I almost used motor oil but notice that it may be grease, meaning that one pulls the shaft out and spread grease.
Can motor oil cause problem with the rubber part that houses the shaft?
If you have one complete please post.

I would use a light grease-like that used for chains. Does it have bushes at the ends? If these are porous bronze then take the flexible shaft out, fill them with oil and squeeze them between finger and thumb to force oil into the bronze. Put the grease on the shaft. If you do this after cleaning the old lube off with mineral spirits the thing will out last you....
