Being fairly new to woodworking I purchased the following table saw book a few months ago…
Great book for me. Easy to read and I’m able to do quite a few things on the table saw now.
I just finished building the “lumber cart” from plans inside the book. The plans were pretty good for me — step by step and they didn’t leave anything out.
However, the book recommended making the cart out of 3/4″ CDX plywood. So, I went to Home Depot and got the “Plytanium” stuff, which is supposed to be pretty good. But, this stuff wouldn’t stop moving!! It wasn’t very straight to being with — but I had to rout some dadoes and played hell when it came time to coax the shelf into the dado because the plywood was so twisted.
So, I guess I learned something. What would have been a better (more stable and straight) type of plywood to use for this project? My first choice would have been MDO, but it’s too expensive. I have to say I liked the “price” of the CDX — $22 for a 4×8 sheet. But I won’t buy it again unless I’m putting in a new subfloor!

Toolfreak,
HD sells a paint grade plywood (interior) for about $30. They also sell a hardwood plywood, one side is maple and the other birch for about $35.
Rather than go into a long explaination of plywood specifications. Check out

You have to register but it's worth it.
Enjoy
"lumber cart"..
Just a thought from one I made
. I made one long ago... A sort of 'A' frame type.. One side flat and 'tipped' back a bit..
Other side had sort of 'bins'.. I saw a plan or picture someplace...
Anyway.. make that base wider than you want! Especially if you load up one side with about 8 sheets of 3/4 inch Oak plywood that cost about 120.00 a sheet..
I did that!... Lets just say it tipped over on the last sheet (all the weight on one side.. I have never posted I'm smart) .. . I got out of the way (luck) and ruined the finish on about 3 of them sheets!
Just a hint...
EDIT: The Oak sheets were ordered special.. Matching for a bar front...
