Does any one know of a good lumber supplier near Valdosta, GA? All I have is the orange and blue team and a few lumber yards that just carry building material that I know of.
Thanks in advance

Clements Brothers Lumber Company in Abbeyville, GA will sell small quantities, but they are located about 1 and one-half hours north of Valdosta. They are a sawmill, not a lumber distributor. Not sure of their selection. I have bought cypress from them. I think that they mostly saw hardwood, and they were willing to sell me about 100 BF. Might be worth a call and a trip north if you need more than a few boards. Good luck. Let me know what you find out. I live in Perry, GA and operate a portable bandmill, but I cut mostly for myself.
thanks for the info I will try them. i also had someone tell they thought there was a place in tifton. have you heard of them?
No, I am not familiar with Tifton.
I live in Tifton and as I far as I know there is no where here to buy hardwood lumber other than red oak and poplar at Lowes. There was a place in Valdosta named Prishners but they have moved to Tallahassee. I have had to purchase all of my lumber off the internet from places like intenetlumber.com. Let me know if you come across anything.
Take care,
Randy
How bad is the shipping cost of internetlumber.
It's not all the bad and it varies based on species. For example you can buy a cherry 20bf hobby pak (FAS s2s) for for $130.00 which is $6.50/bf and they say the shipping is free - they should say shipping inlcuded.
You can 20 bf FAS rough cherry lumber for 4.95/bf. So, 20 bf is $99.00 and the shipping is 18.49 fedx ground which is $5.87/bf.
Of course if you buy a 1000 bf the shipping cost/bf is greatly reduced as well as the price/bf. You just have to pick up the lumber at a truck terminal.
I have read some post here where cherry and walnut are purchased for around $2.00/bf - sure wish I could find a place like that around here!
Hope this helps,
Randy
What are you looking for?
Mainly hardwood plywood.
I live in the piedmont area just below Atlanta, I can get lumber from Wall Lumber in N.C. in two days by way of Wilson Trucking. It can't be more than another day to you. If you buy select grade material in 100 bd. ft. lots, you will actually save money even after freight because your waste factor with the select grade material will be much lower. Plywood is another story, I have not been quite as satisfied with Wall Lumber's plywood, in fact I have actually had a piece of mahogany ply from them delaminate. You may want to estabish a friendly relationship with a local cabinet shop and get your plywood thru them. This allows them to increase their purchase quantities from their suppliers which actually helps them.Ron
