I am starting to get back into woodworking a little more now that time allows & I am starting to think about finding a couple of reasonable wood sources. In the past I had a relative with jointers and a planer. All I had to do was roll a couple oak logs onto a trailer in exchange for all The wood I wanted. All that he wanted was a couple of oak logs 12′ long and 24-36′ dia and clear of knots and rot. Of course he has since passed away and now I need to buy my lumber. I miss the good old days of free lumber!.
So I could probably find a local sawmill and buy some lumber but I presently don’t own a jointer or planer so that would be a waste of time unless it was already surfaced on four sides. The big boxes are ok if it was somebody else’s nickel and all I need is a couple of bdft to make a repair in a cabinet.
So dose anyone have any recommendations as to how to find a supplier of lumber, mostly oak or walnut without costing a arm and a leg. I am located in central Minnesota along the Wisconsin boarder . I would appreciate any leads
My sister is expecting twins and I am thinking about making some cradles and dressers, Shaker style of course.

You can buy lumber on E-Bay in smaller quantities.
