Not sure about the Porter Cables origin, however the Milwaukee is assembled in the Czech Republic. Unfortunatly I think that finding a truly American made cordless toll is going to be next to impossible as the parts are usualy sorced worldwide, especially the rechargable cells. However if you can overlook not having a "Made In The USA" sticker, I will say that the Milwaukee 14.4 is a great drill. I've used a Porter Cable (a coworkers) and found that the battery life was lacking, and to me it just never felt like it was weighted properly (not well balanced).
If you can get past not bein made in the US, i did but then agan I'm Canadian, I'd go with the milwaukee.

my porter cable 12 volt (with the self-loosening chuck feature)was made in Mexico. I found that out after I bought it. I assumed. . . .
Power tools made in the US in general are increasingly hard to get. But if it's quality your looking for I reccomend the panisonic line, longer battery life, very nicely balenced and durable as heck.
Methinks you'll find nearly all Porter Cable tools made during the Pentair AND the now Black & Decker daze to be made somewhere in the Asian area. My 2-year-old PC 14.4 v drill "claims" a Jacksonville, TN source of origin but the manufacture of pieces and parts (and the whole) is Asian -- mostly CHINA.
The thing works quite well, mind you.
It is a bit disconcerting to see where all the pieces are coming from when one expects something "better" from the "source".
But then I guess you have to think about *concrete* on the Moon when Earth's sources would be inferior to "local" sources :-)
