Hello all,
I own a jet contractors saw which I have used for five years now. I wired it for 220
when it was new. The problem is I don,t like the switch it came with. I have to hit the off button
just right or it doesn’t stop. I purchased a magnetic switch with a big off paddle. I wired it in place
but it does not start the saw. Can a magnetic switch be substituted for the original?

Was the original switch a magnetic switch? What make and model is the new switch? Did the new switch come with instructions?
What happens when you turn the switch on? Is there any humming or other noises?

Not really much to go on. Sure, you can put a magnetic switch on your saw. Could be defective and or wired wrong. Any reason you didn't contact where you bought it from first???
this might work
One of these might work. Depends on HP and voltage.
