I just cleaned up my table saw and jointer. I was wandering what is recommended to put on the table tops to both protect and reduce the fiction/making it easier to push pieces across — this is especially needed with jointers.
The first two things that come to mind is paste wax and car polish. Are any of these the correct choice? I don’t want to put anything on which will affect glue joints and the finishing process.
I have all ready removed the oils with kerosine.
Thanks!

Scott,
I prefer Johnson's or Min Wax paste wax...

*I use paste wax and have never had any problems resulting. Needs frequent applications by it sure is a treat sliding boards across when it's freshly done.
*Any good paste furniture/floor wax will work fine. However, stay away from car waxes/polishes as some contain silicone which can cause finishing problems. You might also wipe you tops with mineral spirits. Kerosene is slightly less refined and leaves an oil film. This is good for most machine surfaces but is best not left on the tabletop surface.
