Make wooden inserts for SawStop Table Saw
The bottom of a SawStop insert is difficult to replicate in a shop made wooden insert.
If we limit the application to vertical cuts, and exclude maximum height of the blade, then the insert becomes much simpler, and still works most of the time.
Wooden inserts have the advantage of zero clearance around the blade. Also they are quick to make and low cost so you can have one for each dado width.

Nicely done.
I noticed at the end of your video the dado set you use has anti-kickback shoulders. SawStop advises against using them.
"vii. Blades with depth-limiting shoulders may take longer to stop in the event of an accident than standard blades, and you could receive a more serious injury. Therefore, SawStop recommends using blades without
depth-limiting shoulders."
We paid for the technology, let's make sure it works if we ever need it.
You are correct. That "safety" dado set with shoulders is left over from my old saw. I plan to replace. Thanks for reminder.
It would also seem to completely preclude to use of a blade guard?
The type of blade guard that replaces the riving knife will not work, as you pointed out. The overhead type blade guards will still work.
For me the main application of shop made inserts is for dado blades, because I can have a zero clearance insert for every width of dado. The riving knife type of blade guard cannot be used with dado blade so no disadvantage in this application.
Looks great! Hope it will work good.
Fantastic video, well done, and thank you for taking the time to create and post this!
How did you get the Sawstop to run with the 8" blade?
Used the Dado Brake with an 8 inch blade.
Very helpful. I'm making new inserts this afternoon!
