I’m designing a large desk with a small rolltop. I plan on building the basic sides/back with plywood then attaching bendable plywood and covering with cherry veneer. I’m making several curves and I don’t believe the bendable plywood would be sturdy enough alone. Should I use 3/4 or 1/2 plywood as the basic form? I’m thinking 3/4 is very heavy especially since I’m adding even more weight with the bendable plywood…But I’m afraid that 1/2 would not be sturdy enough. I am planning on making frames to go inside under each drawer section. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! CT

There is a article in fine woodworking for th last 2 months on using wiggle wood & how to strengthen it using veneer
i just finished organizing my equipment in order to make some curved doors for a entertainment centre
the articles are a good read if you are trying to learn how .
I've made numerous curved
I've made numerous curved panels by gluing together layers of bending ply and veneer. These have all been of sufficient stiffness for my purposes. I have no doubts regarding the process or the product. You don't give the size of your panels needed or any other pertinent data so it's really impossible to give you specific advice. I'd suggest you make up a sample panel and just see how stiff it is. Then you can make an informed decision for yourself. Finishing is not the only woodworking process that benefits from doing samples.
Thank you for the information!
