I recently taught a class at Woodcraft on how to make and finish a gunstock and had a lot of fun doing it. I finally talked them into letting me do a class on Jigs & Fixtures and they want the class to actually make something and they suggested making plane handles.
So, any thoughts on plane handles? Interchangeability, bad woods to use, other design issues to consider?
They gave me one of the new replacement handles woodcraft sells to use as a pattern, any issue with those?
Thanks in advance.

I made several planes, some with totes. I just copied one from a bailey smoothing plane. Most are mahogany totes.Almost any hardwood you have laying around will do.
