Read Chris Minick’s piece on using hide glue size to prevent blotching when staining or dying. My question is can the granular formula be made in bulk and stored, or must it be used fresh?

Mix only what you need, as you need it. That stuff will give rise to alien creatures in no time.
*You can preserve your hide glue (size) by placing a small branch of willow with the outer bark removed in the mixture and it will prevent the buggy-boos from growing, an asprin will also work.
