Hi, I’ve read that you can mix paint with a clear coat finish to make the color of your choice. I’m wondering if anyone has tried this and how it worked out for you. I want to do this because I’m trying to match an impossible color I’ll call dark maroon.

Eric Curtis did a great video on how to do this a couple of weeks ago:

Thanks, rob SS, You just made life a lot easier for me. That very simple, "just do this" video by Eric Curtis was exactly what I was looking for. Now I'll just grab some color cards from the paint store, figure out the color on our other cabinet and have them make me some paint. š
The Eric Curtis video is hard to beat. Thomas Johnson Antiques on YouTube has a lot of videos where he needs to match the color of the restored part to the rest of it. If I recall, he may even have a summary video or two on his techniques so Iād check that out. Also, if you go on Amazon, you can find a color wheel for wood that can be handy to figure out if I have X and need to go to Y, what do I use.
Thanks š
