Dear All,
I am trying to find information on how to make the leap, and it seems like a big one, from amateur to professional. I have worked with wood for as long as I can remember. I have the skills when it comes to wood working, but I am relatively ignorant when it comes to going pro. I know that most everyone out there had to start somewhere. Please share your wisdom with the new guy. I thank you in advance.

Next you may want to take a few night courses at a local jr. college on starting a business. Your county extenuation office might have a few short courses also.
Get some real experience working for cabinet shop some where.
Are you going to need to rent some money at the bank to set up your shop and equipment.
If so you will need a business plan to convince the bank. that the business will succeed.
Part of the plan will need to prove to the bank you know how to do the work and run the business.
How are you going to find the work to you.
Where are you going to set up your shop? Most cities won’t let you run a business out of your home, Zoning codes.
You will also decided what kind of work you are going after.
So you can get licensed for that kind of work you are doing.
contractor lic.
hazard waste generator lic. finish, solvents wast wood.
The proper insurance, product liability, general liability, property damage liability, to name a few.
