makita 6 3/4 planer (1806 B)

Has anyone ever tried to get a quote for the cost of one of these from Home Depot here in Canada? I tried over the phone but they kept failing to return my calls. The only quote I got was for $879 CAN. KMS Tools also has it posted on their web site at $659 but I found out from someone (he works as a purchaser at a log sort with a company that builds log homes) that it should sell for $607 (at least in 2003 it did). Does Makita have something against people trying to get a good deal on a tool?

I have half a mind to see if I can find one in the states on my next trip to Anacordes Bird and Telescope.

PS ARE there any stores that sell this tool on or near the I-5 between Anancordes and the Peace Arch Border Croosssing?
