I have found an older used Makita 2012 for sale. (Note – this is a model 2012 for sale and not the newer 2012NB). Its some distance for me to drive and pick up so I can’t really see its dust collection ability – or lack thereof – in advance.
My question relates to dust collection – I’m not finding any dust collection accessories online. Has anyone had any luck with controlling the dust and chips from this planer? My workspace is very small and I can’t have a planer with no dust collection capability.
Thanks!
Mervyn

Unlike the older Delta's I don't see an optional adapter for 4" hose.
This is just a chip deflector. But I didn't search it out too completely.
I have an old Hitachi planer that has a chip deflector/chute. I fitted a piece of wood to the end of the chute and added a 2 1/2" hose coupling. It works fine, maybe you can do something like that.
Makita did make a dust collection hood for the 2012 (P/N 192010-2). One is available on eBay.

I bought the dust collection hood for my first-generation 2012. It's an odd size - 3" I think - so it's hard to find adaptors to connect it up. But i just stuff my shop vac hose into the outlet of the hood and it works well enough.
My dad also had a 2012 and, being frugal, he had a different idea. He fabricated a hood out of scrap plywood and attached it with some angle brackets and sheet metal screws. Worked just fine and a sight cheaper that the Makita hood which IMHO is overpriced. If I had it to do over again I'd just roll my own like he did.
