Hi fellow woodworkers—I have a Makita 2030N planer/jointer combo and I am finding the infeed and outfeed rollers on the planer becoming too hard and slick to grab the wood and drive it through without assistance from me. I know I can replace the rollers at about $170 each. Is there any other option such as recovering, etc.? Thanks, Floorman

If you can get a copy of Woodshop News, there is a company that advertises in there that recovers rollers for about $60 ea.
They did my set and it was great.
Sorry, can't remember the name, but if you need it, I can send it tomorrow when I'm in my office.
I have a Makita 2040 planer and love the quality of the cuts.
I wish they made a stand alone jointer this wide.

Jeff, Thank you very much for the info on recovering my planer rollers. That's exactly the news I was hoping to hear. I do not know how to get ahold of the publication you are speaking about. Would you please forward the name and/or phone number of the company you are speaking of? Very much appreciated!

Floorman,
Precision Roll (NH) can take care of what you need. http://www.precisionroll.com/index.htm
I also have a Makita 2040 planer (like Jeff in VT), and Precision did an exceptional job at refurbishing the rollers to a better than new condition.Dan Kornfeld, Owner/President - Odyssey Wood Design, Inc.

I only heard about Precision from Don after I sent my rollers to Alasco.
They did a great job, so I wasn't sorry.
