Makita LCT200W Compact Lithium 2 Pc Set

Am I missing something with this 2 piece set because it seems as though it’s a no-brainer to buy the set with both the drill and impact drive for about $260 rather than purchase these individually? Each sells for about $200 so for about $60 more you have both. Also, does anyone recall seeing a lower price recently, like around $200 for the set, at either Lowe’s, Rockler, or Woodcraft? Maybe I’m thinking of something else. I appreciate the input–thanks!

I know this is not the same thing and I don't wish to hijack your thread.
My Dad was in Harbor Freight the other day and bought a bunch of cordless drills. Each includes a battery and a charger and the whole package costs $16 (that is not a typo). Meanwhile, I saw DeWalt batteries on sale for $74 a piece.
You wonder how this can be.
Don't know how the drills are but I can let you know once we get charged and use them.
I just bought the same set at Home Depot for $251 (with a 10% off card). Love it. Woodcraft is advertising it for $259.

I believe you end up with more batteries and chargers if you buy them seperately. The kit comes with just one battery per tool and one charger. Each tool when purchased seperately comes with two batteries and two chargers, so you end up with four batteries.

Quickstep's right - you end up with twice as many chargers and batteries if you buy them individually. That's no big deal, as they only take 15 min to charge. I think that it's a marketing thing. You need the drill, but don't really need the impact driver. But for $60 bucks, you say what the heck and upgrade. More money for them, more tools for you.

My partner bought the Makita 18v ( the blue one $300.00)
last summer and has had to return 4 chargers. That was FOUR chargers.
Definitely a problem with the Makita chargers.
Chris, you're right; you don't "need" the impact driver, but I find that my drill lasts a LOT longer when I'm not using it to drive screws. With both, I now use the impact driver only for driving screws and the drill just for drilling. One note - driving small screws with the impact driver is tricky to say the least. Driving big screws is a pleasure.
