Hello,
I have a 12″ Makita thickness planner and it seems to have started to skip or jump a tooth on the chain drive. I’ve checked for the tensioning and chips or sawdust accumulation and all seems to be fine. This occurs even with light passes.
I am not sure if anyone has experienced this same problem or have heard of this situation.
Any suggestions or remedies would be very much appreciated.
Thanks Doug

I have had the 2012 12" planer for 12 years now and it started to do the same thing about 3 years ago. Was driving me nuts ... I talked to the guy at the makita repair depot and he had no clue ... I did however figure it out ... take the cover off the left chain drive (left looking towards the outfeed). Take the spring off, bend it wider and reinstall it. This fixed mine about 3 years ago and it has been OK since. The spring gets weak and lets the chain skip.

Thanks, I'll try that.
