I would like to build the Maloof low-back side chair. Here is a picture for those of you who aren’t familiar with this particular chair.

Does anyone know of a class that I could attend to learn how to build this chair? This would be something of a step up in difficulty for me so I would like to take a class but any other information on how to build the chair would also be appreciated. In particular I would be interested in purchasing scale drawings for the chair.

I'm gonna doubt that Maloof is going to sell his plans. I have done a piece similar to it. I used known chair measurements and angles in combination with my picture perceptions, built a mock-up, looked at my mistakes, decided where I had to tweak, then built the chair. It turned out well.
But then, I am a glorified hobbyist.
Do have pictures and/or a build log?
No. To my demise, I've never been a picture taker. But as I said, I used copies of pictures that were fairly dead on straight and used that to establish measurement relationships, plus what I could get from books ("a chair seat should be x to x inches tall..."). Made the mock-up, made some adjustments, then made the final. It turned out well.
David, you might consider joining the rocking chair group. There is a great deal of information available specific to chair making. Despite the name, the members make all kinds of chairs not just rockers.

Seeing that Maloof gets upwards of $30,000.00 for this chair, I don’t think plans are available. But here are a couple of drawings that might help.
In Marc Adams class on joints this was one we all made. It looks much more complicated than it was. In spite of fumbling through it, mine actually fit and worked.
William Ng teaches a Maloof style rocker class at his school. I visited his shop when he had an open house after he moved to his current location. Nice shop. Nice guy. Here is his website.

Marc Adams teaches a sculptured rocking chair class in which you build a Maloof style rocking chair. All of Maloof's chairs are built in the same basic way and a rocking chair is just a regular chair with rockers added. Once you see how this chair is done, you could easily figure out the rest. By the way, you will not fine Maloof plans any where. He shows some details in his books, but not much.
Maybe this can be of help
