I am an intermediate woodworker interested in tackling a complex Maloof-style sculpted chair. I am skilled enough to do the woodworking, but am intimidated by the design. I have been unable to locate one either commercially or on the web. Does anyone know where I could find plans?

You are not finding them because you are seaching for something that does not exist. There are no "Maloof" plans anywhere. I am in the same boat as you are and I "plan" on ordering plans from Hal Taylor. His chairs look just as nice (imho) and are similar to Mr. Maloofs.
Try http://www.haltaylor.com

thanks. That is exactly what I've been looking for.

Maloof gives many of his details in his book and in the DVD/video profile of him. Not dimensions, etc., but his techniques and methods. Aside from his templates for rough shaping, he still (last I heard) does all of the shaping by eye.
Size it to your need and use him for inspiration, allowing the curves to flow organically.
These will help.
