I would like to make a Mancala game. I have a game that was given to me as a pattern. However, I’m looking for advice as to how the best way/safest to make the “cups”? route with a huge core box bit?

Tom,
To get this back up to the top again: What's a Mancala game? Thanks, GP.
*Mancala is a game played on a board with 14 cups in it. While the size of the cups may be somewhat arbitrary, the game I would like to replicate has 2 1/2" dia. cups by 1" deep in a 1 1/4" stock. The board is approx. 7" x 25" x 1 1/4".It has 2 rows of 6 cups with an additional cup at each end.
*I have one of those games, probalby 40+ years old now. How about regrinding a rosette cutter?
*Tom,You did not say what radius you want so here goes. BTW you don't need a huge bit to do this. You make the circle template out of scrap plywood with a circle cutting tool. Of course there are other ways.Method #1 - Use a plunge router with a top bearing dish carving bit and a circle template.Method #2 - Use a plunge router with a round nose bit, a template guide and a circle template. This way will require changing to a mortise bit to flatten bottom.Route away.
