Here is a rare opportunity to own one of Philip Marcoux’s masterpiece smoothing planes. This plane is the first one sold, marked 01/2005. It is an 11-inch long bevel-up smoother with a 2-1/4-inch wide iron. It weighs in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces. The knob and tote are Brazilian walnut. Brass sides with a dovetailed steel sole. The mouth is tight, tight, tight. Norris-style adjuster with side set screws. A beautiful and beautiful-performing plane. The reason for sale has nothing to do with the plane. $1,200.00 delivered to your US address. Outside of US, shipping at cost.

I recall when Philip made this one. It was, and remains, my favourite design. Then I have always preferred the round top Stanleys to the flat top Bedrocks for looks. I think them more elegant.
I might offer another observation, this in respect to the absence here of an adjustable mouth: Philip's smoothers (of this plane type) do not need one. The mouth is small enough, and the quality of the construction is sufficient to make it possible to plane the most difficult grain imaginable. I never adjust the mouth on mine.
I hope this plane goes to an appreciative home.
Regards from Perth
Derek
