I am looking to replace the plastic thumbscrew in my old marking gauge. Since this is a moveable part which endures some stresses and eventually may break, why is there no source in this world that sells replacement plastic thumbscrews ? I’ve already done an exhaustive internet search. I do not want to have to dispose of my whole marking gauge just because a part, which should be easy to replace, broke. Any solutions welcome ?
Thanks,
Dave.

Hi,
Thanks for reply. It's a Crown Tools marking gauge made of beech with 2 inlayed strips of brass. ( Funny how I got attached to this tool but it has served me well for years. ) I know that Footprint and Crown marking gauges use the exact same types of screws. I do not know for sure if Crown and Marples do, but my expectation would be that they do. Is there a way you can verify they are the same ?
Thanks,
Dave.
Probably the same scerw - even if not the exact gauge.Joel

If you bought yours from Garret Wade, as did I, I just called them and they sent me a new one. Most places would probably do the same.
