Hello to all- We have an original 1938 kitchen complete with original slantback dual drain board sink, metal cabinets & metal edged countertops. When i first moved in 15 years ago, countertops had laminate sheets glued down to what i didnt know at the time & just figured out, was Marmoleum countertops. I removed the metal edging, laminate & marmoleum & installed laminate & reinstalled the metal edging. Now the metal edging stands up proud of the laminate & collects crumbs, etc. & upon recent investigation, i think i would like to go back to the Marmoleum. My question is, do i remember correctly that the metal edging crimps down into the marmoleum thus eliminating the the 1/16 that now protrudes above my laminate & catches crumbs? I can include pix if needed.
Thanks

Could work with the laminate
I used to live in a house with that kind of countertops. The metal trim had the top curled over & that sat down tight over top of the linoleum (Marmoleum). You could make it work with the laminate but you'd have to fill the existing screw holes with dowel & then drill new holes just a little lower.
The laminate will be much more durable but there is nothing like the look & feel of real linoleum.
