I do marquetry in fairly thick stock [5/32″]. Any suggestions for coloring or dying woods. I like doing scenes with birds and “landscapes”, and have trouble getting woods in brighter colors such as: blues, oranges, greens {I do use poplar, but they are very light green}, and purples.

Have you got or tried greenheart? It is a hard wood with medium to dark green.
I have not used it, so I don't know if the color is stable, but I see it in Hogan Hardwoods, here in LR AR.
Thanks, Keith. I'll try to find green heart locally or at Hogan Hardwoods in LR. Do they have ads in FW?

Here is a link. http://www.hoganhardwoods.com/Have you used purple heart for the purple, and or Padauk for the orange?
Maybe more people on this forum that can help than is on here.
