What is the difference, between these techniques?
If I resaw on my Bandsaw to 3/32″, stack/bevel cut some patterns of different wood types on the scroll saw and glue them into the original 3/32″ board, then glue the whole 3/32″ board to a MDF base, using a vacuum bag and finish with a hand plane and scraper, to get the now wood part down to 1/16″, is this veneer, marquetry, intarsia, or inlay?
How thick is it no longer considered as veneer?
I have never worked with thin veneer, due to concerns with durability over time, but have done a lot of items as described above. I’m looking at a new project, which may have to be hammer veneered. Any pointers to good books on the subject will be appreciated.
