I have pine windows and oak closet doors and a pine door in the same room. Would like to get them to match somewhat in color at least. I don’t want to go real dark and I don’t want it to be too orange but a little is OK. Note: I don’t have fancy spray equipment, booths, etc. Is the question that follows how to keep the pine from getting too orange? One idea I had was water based finish as washcoat on pine maybe with a little blue dye added, then same gel stain as oak, then water based finish on the pine but not on the oak? I’m goiing nuts trying to figure this out.
Thank you oh wise ones.

One way to try would be to seal th pine and apply glaze. Don't seal the oak just use a stain.
After sealing and glazing the pine with the color glaze you like - go to the paint store and look through their samples of the various stains they offer on an oak sample
