I’m buiding a book case using Honduran Mahogany plywood and solid wood. I’ve looked through some of the other posts and i think i’ll need to stain the solid wood to match the plywood but I do still have a few questions.
The first is that I’ve noticed that the solid wood darkens pretty quickly. If I stain it to match the plywood now, will it continue to darken and turnout to be too dark? Also, since it is darkening, what are the chances that it’ll darken to match the plywood? I haven’t used stain very much and I’m a little hesitant to mess up some really nice lumber.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Think dyes rather than stains.
You can fine tune the two materials, solid wood and ply, using glazes. Basically your finish with a touch of dye in it. The more coats the more color/darkness you get. More coats on the lighter components in other words.
Different woods
I'm guessing your edging is not plywood and your solid wood is also mahogany. The diffenence in shades is going to be acceptable and no matter what you do to lighten or darken one wood the overall may look unsightly if done wrong. But if you must - try a light coat of spray lacquer from a can aimed at the edging - let dry - (option -blue tape off the ply ? ) than a gel stain on everything. Try it on scrap first.
