Matt,
Add my congratulations to BG's. Sounds (reads) like you'll still be around, just sitting a little higher with more responsibility -- and with more people to tell you what the right way to do something is, etc., etc.
Dealing with people through writing (email, Knots, et al) is probably more challenging than we realize. Although I am probably old enough (or more than) to be your father, I still appreciate your talking with me on the phone a year or two ago for a long time and both being receptive to my ideas as well as explaining some of the challenges you face in your work.
I remember telling my dad when I was a teenager and worked in his hardware and building supply business that if it wasn't for the customers I could get my work done. Of course, I knew that the customer was the indicator of success in the business, but so often people lose sight of that. You don't appear to have done that -- hence, my guess as to one of the reasons why you have been promoted.
Keep focused, keep learning, and keep the prices low!
Thanks,
Alan - planesaw
