I may be purchasing a Max spindle sander {not sure which model}. The seller says it is fairly new and only has one spindle. I think these are still being manufactured, but can’t find any info on who builds them. I would like to know I can purchase additional spindles before I buy. Any tips and leads appreciated.

Went through the same thing a few years ago and was looking at old Oliver, Max, Clayton and figured out the Grizzly was the best deal. I can buy 5 Grizzly's for the price of a Max.
A 2" spindle and rubber drum is $45 for the Grizzly. I'm betting you will pay the cost of the complete Grizzly just got the Max spindles and rubber drums. The Grizzly is pretty darn good and I'm a fan of old iron bigtime but the numbers worked out much better to get the Grizzly. It's performed just like it should with no problems.
Maybe it's not a fair comparison, but I like my Ridgid Oscillating Belt/Spindle Sander very much. I still hate sanding though, but not as much.
