Garret has a wand that works well. I saw one in a pawn shop for $35 yesterday.
The Lumber Wizard has worked well for me for years.
Lumber wizard.
I use a lumber wizard as well. After the lumberwiz I'll lay the board on the bench and go over it with a couple of rare earth magnets on a light string. I'm always surprised by how many bits of metal I find with the magnets after the lumber wizard finds the big stuff.
I just hold them about 1/4" off the surface and make close passes. The tug when they find something reminds me of a dog I had growing up... he found birds and squirrels in bushes like he had x-ray vision!
For small stuff I'll just go straight to the magnets.
