I want to build a stand for my miter saw. I want to put relatively shallow metal drawers in the stand (to hold items like chisels and screwdrivers). I’m having a hard time finding a supplier that sells just the drawers. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Patti,
This is the closest I could find:

Would rectangular cake pans (bakewares) work?
You might also look through the storage stuff at Grainger Industrial Supply.

Patti ,
Blum makes several products that will work but they are not cheap. One being a MetaBox system .

Just curious, why metal drawers?
Go to a used office supply outlet. Never can tell what you'll find. Maybe a desk to tear apart. I'm looking for a similar set up for my 6" X 18" Atlas lathe that I can put a coolent catch basin in; with a pump.

Well I have a suggestion but it might be hard to find. Lee Valley, until about a year and half ago, was selling just what you're looking for. Veritas Toolbox Trays and here is the link to the "no longer available product": http://www.leevalley.com/wood/Page.aspx?c=1&p=46037&cat=1,43326,43330 . You might find them on Craig's list or elsewhere as they were a godsend for woodworkers. Robin Lee says they are looking for a supplier to bring them back but has had no luck yet....perhaps if everyone would send emails to Lee Valley's customer service people about this then it might speed up the process...nothing like a little bit of customer pressure....
Anyway good luck in your search.

Metal Drawers
Hi Patti,'
You might try looking at metal drawers made by Edsal, specifically their model WB1218. Sold by Home Depot and Amazon.com. Good Luck.

Lee Valley makes them...
They call them Toolbox trays. All the same footprint, different depths. I have a couple dozen. They may have temporarily discontinued them, since they're now in the "What's New" section.
Toolbox Trays
LV metal drawers
the 1" drawers were ok, the 2" drawers were somewhat OK, and the three inch drawers were OK to store feathers.
I've got two sets of threse in the shop. One of my construction, the other from a G sale.
If you throw 30 or 40 large drill bits into the 3" drawers, the sides simply bend in. They are not capable of holding wieght.
OTOH, the 1" drawers hold smaller and lighter taps and dies without problem. They are not Heavy duty storage solutions at all.
Overloaded, the sides collapse, and fall into the drawer below, then you gotta fuss to get the whole bejiggered debacle unentangled. For light stuff OK, wieght turns them into a frustration. and because the sides are bendable, ease of access and ease of opening become a frustrating manifestation of needs and performances working at cross purposes
Jus my thoughts.

Metal drawers are available
Lee Valley does still offer "drawers". They call them toolbox trays. Here is a link to the page in their online catalog.

versatility
For heavier items or miscellaneous parts, I've found the Durham brand cabinets and drawers from Grainger to be quite versatile. Their "cabinets" enclose ball-bearing-mounted trays that hold "drawers" which are essentially shallow steel boxes with lids. So, if you need to, you can remove the "drawer" and move it to where you are working. Here's a link to a two-drawer cabinet, but they have other sizes and configurations:

RE: Durham cabinets
For the price that Durham cabinet and two plastic bins, you could buy a four drawer Craftsman upper toolbox.
DIY
If you have a small break (buy, borrow, steal) then it would be pretty simple to make your own. You'd be much happier in the end.
