Hello everyone,
I have some quartersawn white oak with a pretty good sized metal stain throughout a few of the boards extending through the entire thickness. I need to find a way to eliminate them. Does a solution exist for this and has anyone else seen this in their wood? Thanks.

I recently used oxalic acid to remove stain from oak - the tile guys had spread grout on unfinished woodwork and flooring - made me look like a genius - don't know about your situation tho - give it a try - I got the acid at a drugstore - I've heard that hardwares should have it, but they don't around here -
good luck - DOUD
Doud's got it. Oxalic is best at iron stains from woods with tannic acid (like oak) Our hardware places don't have it either. Drugstore. Comes in powder, mix with warm water, apply. Don't breathe the dust or get the mix on your hands. Wear gloves. Probably run you 20 bucks for a jar. Last you forever.

Thanks David and RW! I will give it a try!
