I bought a Porter Cable 895PK kit a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love that thing. The accesory that came with that kit was the micro-adjust knob to be used in adjusting the height from above the table. The way my router cabinet is set up, it is open on one end so I can easily access the micro adjust knob (attached to router) as well as the “clamping lever” (the one that holds the height in place) and don’t see the use in having the micro-adjust knob to use through the table. It seems like it is more work than its worth to use the knob that came with kit than just adjusting using my hands below the table. Forgive me if this question is unclear, I’m new to this stuff and the terms used to describe this stuff are uncertain to me.
If anyone can tell my why I should use the knob that came with the kit it would be appreciated.

Simple answer is use what ever works for you.

That is amazing! I was giving my son some instructions about the disposition of the tools in my shop and was telling him how much I'm going to resent not being able to take them with me.... This very day.
Thanks Scott.
The only reason you "should" use the above-the-table adjuster is if it's easier for you and you like it. Otherwise, just tuck it away somewhere. Lots of folk don't have the easy access you have, or just don't like bending, or reaching or whatever they have to do to make the adjustment from underneath.
