Hello All,
Long time Lurker, first time poster. I have a little money ($200-$250) floating around after a recent birthday and my 95 year old house could really use a miter saw to help out with the many projects around the house. So I am looking for an the most dependable saw in this relatively low price range and the Milwaukee 6494-6 (compound 10″ miter saw) is looking attractive. Anybody have good/bad experiences to report or a saw they prefer? I’ll be using it for projects like crown molding, deck building, and initial forays into woodworking projects. Thanks for any and all help.

I have the milwaukee slidesaw, excellent saw.I haven't used the saw you are considering, but you mention crown molding in your post. I also have a Dewalt 12" dual bevel compound mitersaw, more money but better for crown molding. You can cut crown in the up position instead of on the flat. You might be able to do the same on a ten inch saw, depends on the crown.

I have had a delta 10" slide/miter saw for about 6 months. I didn't really get to try it first as it was not available. It was recommended to me however I would not buy one of these again for the reason that the indents for 45 degrees are not positive, Ihave to read off the scale and test each time. I have used a bosch and found that a better saw. However, I have got used to not using the indents and everything else is fine with it.
