Thanks very much Richard.
Mineral Spirits vs Paint Thinner?
Home Centers carry both mineral spirits (~$4.50 / gal) and paint thinner (~$2.00 / gal), all by the same mfgr. Check the label on the paint thinner, and it says 100% mineral spirits. The explaination for the difference in price is that the "Mineral Spirits" is higher quality solvent. I've used both. Because one is "higher quality" I generally use that for thinning varnishes etc, and the cheap stuff for cleaning brushes etc. But my reasoning is based only on labeling. Am I being succured, - along with the rest of the general public.
So my question is what do you use for what purpose? Comments on quality and varying results invited.
