Hi, I am building 1:12 dolls house furniture and have a soft spot for chairs. I own a Unimat 1 that I use to turn spindles etc. I am however in dire need of more accuracy. My large record lathe is way to big for turning such small spindles. A chair leg in front is usually 38 mm long. I will appreciate advice on what miniature lathe I can buy to assist me in my hobby. Can a watchmaker lathe be used for woodwork as well.? I will need to turn brass for the light fixtures etc. As well. Regards, Werner

There are miniature lathes out there, but I don't have personal experience with them. I'm sure a watchmakers lathe would work. With the right workholding and rest, I'm sure you could use a wood lathe too.

Are you married to the idea of turning them? Some planing forms would be easy to make and fun to use.
If you can find an Unimat db200 in good shape and complete they’re pretty sweet and could def machine those parts.
