I just received my new MiniMax MM16 purchased at the AWFS show in Anaheim last week, Boy what a saw! It’s built like a brick Sxxx House and looks like it can do the job of any resaw jobs I may have coming up.
One three part question I have to another MM16 owner,
# 1 have you experienced any problems. How do you like your saw?
Is there anything I should be looking out for which may need attention?
I have one small grip which can be fixed with a dremel and that is the blade shield has spot welds at the upper section of the telescoping shield which will need to be ground off. It causes the guide bar to hit the welds and stop the rising of the guide for resawing adjustments. Not a big deal but worth to note.

I've had my MM16 for almost a year, and the only two issues that I have are as follows:
1. I cleaned it up of all the cosmoline, but it contininues to oooze from behind this piece or that piece........someday I expect it to stop after sawdust absorbs that final missed globs that may be hiding behind the wheels.
2......and I wish that the guides handled thin bands better. Not that I want to scroll, but 1/4 bands can't cut too tight a curve. Other than that I like the guides, but they need an optional guide for narrow bands. I've heard that such an option may become available.
3. This hasn't been a big problem since I almost always keep my table flat, but the table adjustment trunnion bolt is a pain IMNSHO. If I tilted my table alot, maybe I'd get their bigger saw w/ the quick lock mechanism, but they really should look at a redesigned trunnion for the 16.
Yes...........you're right, those are not really problems. BTW, I agree w/ you.......they are really built like a brick XXXXhouses! I love it when I buy a tool and don't get a lick of buyers remorse.

Yes Mike, I too was Quite amazed at the ( White Grease ) now used to coat the saw. every bolt , Washer, Wheel, and anything which did not have Paint on It was coated with the white grease. I had called the Office in Austin Tx, to ask the best method for removing the grease and I was told to Buy a large can of WD - 40 and coat the entire saw and wipe down the heavy areas as best I could then used Compressed Air to blow out the grease from the tight areas. Which I did and it worked very well.
The total de grease process took a good 5 hours.
Power It has.
It has NO DRIFT in the blade while cutting 3" and 6" thick Oak with a 1/4" blade. pretty darn Good.

wish I could comment on my MM16. Unfortunately Im still waiting for mine. I have received 2 so far, both damaged in delivery. Im told my third one is shipping today. Cant wait to waste another half day missing work to wait for the freighters and another half day cleaning up cosmoline again. My original order went in two and half months ago. Oh well hope you enjoy yours.

Zoo,
I have had my MM16 for about 4 months, it's one great machine, I love it. Like others who have written the amount of white grease used is unbelievable, I have spent hours cleaning it up and it continues to ooze out. But I would spend the money again in a heartbeat. I have not had the same issue with the guides, they just seem to be a bit fussy to setup.
Good luck with your purchase..
I've had mine just a few weeks. I also have one small gripe: the plastic insert on the table top has four leveling screws which contact washers under the table. On one of my washers I need to Dremel some cast iron material that got in the way and interfere with the leveling screw. I haven't fixed it yet since I don't have the right cutter for my Dremel. Anyway, I've used the saw on one project resawing some Narra. Wow, what a saw! I was pretty impressed given the blades they supplied were nothing great.
Oh, to clean all that white goop off I used some paint thinner and a brush plus the air compressor. Man, what a PITA that was. And I had to laugh though after I turned it on for the first time. The centripetal force on the wheel slung more of stuff around. I think I would have paid extra not to have it. The WD40 seems like a good idea.
I also had a small delivery problem; they kept wanting to deliver the thing with out a lift gate - twice. Finally I called the Mini Max office. Some nice lady there arranged to have it shipped with a lift gate in about 40 minutes; I should have called them sooner.
I had Mini Max set it up as a Terminal pick up in Los Angeles because I have my own truck with a lift gate and It made a world of difference unloading it at my shop. I'm still waiting for the Free saw blades to arrive.
My mm20 been an absolute joy! the white stuff a big pain in the ####... i've still got it oozing out here and there...
Had a problem with the black start button being stuck,,,, but MM staff very helpful... been very satisfied.
