I’m mostly a hand-tool user, but have been seriously considering getting a nice, larger bandsaw. I’d love to have one of the MM16’s or comparable Lagunas, but my basement shop is not the easiest to get 500 lbs of machinery into it. The S45 looks like a solid saw with good capacity, but not a real “heavy weight”. It now features 12″ of resaw and a built-in mobility system that retracts into the base. Has anyone used one and any recommendations?
Thanks.

I own a MMs45 and love it for what I need. Granted, it's not a big dog like the MM16 but for what I use it for (cedar, oak, maple,...) it does the trick. I recently invested in some better blades, timberwolf blades, and it has improved the cutting capacity. It has enough horse power to get the job done. I do some ripping on it but my friend has a monster Laguna that I use when ripping 6-10inch boards.
I'm very happy with the S45 and would recommend it over the Jet, Powermatic, Delta, and Rikon equivalents. Cast iron trunnions, great table, steel wheels...
Good luck with your decision
