I was at a local machinist supply house getting some
24″ 4R rulers and misc stuff. I asked about a really
good combination square. The owner was flabbergated when
he couldn’t find ANY 12″ 4R combo-square (well 1 from Fuller,
but it the etching was defective). Finally, he just grabbed
a new Starret out of the display case and said, “here
just take this one on me.”
It was my turn to be left speechless. Why did he give me an
$80 square for free (I only spent $50 on supplies)!
There are still gentlemen in this world, and most of them
are woodworkers and machinists.

John,
I've got a list of things I need, what would it take to talk you into going down there for me? :)

Now that's unusual. He's obviously a giver. But for a business to being giving away it's stock? I don't really understand that.
I got a 12" Starret 4 piece combo set for Christmas - nice gift!
I just love the feel of a quality tool.
