Noddy,
We need a wee bit more info.
Where are you located, what size is the mirror, how thick, how heavy, is it rectangular, what is the substrate it will be attached to, is it in a wet location, etc.
This is a woodworking forum so would you consider a wood frame; say mahogany and hang it up like a picture; perhaps some brass accents??
OK,
I'm looking for a supplier i can buy from on the web as i'm based in UK. The mirror is approx 18' by 12', made from english cherry, and will be part of a dressing table. Its made up of a curved frame. The piece is very contemporary so I'm after a swivel movement that doesn't look like it was designed 200 years ago and is very simple.brass rod with clean contemporary nut on end would be perfect. .
Noddy,
I tried Google; typed in mirror hardware and got 21 million hits.
Lots of homework there for you.
Being a DIY, I would run some threaded brass rod behind the mirror through a couple of small rounded over brass angles attached to the cherry frame; finish off with acorn nuts each end. All you will see are the nuts. Use lock nuts inside the angles; acorns outside.
Good luck.
Seems like Richard Jones might be able to help you, since he's across the pond from most of us. Problem is, he doesn't accept email through Knots, so you might have to start a new thread titled Richard Jones, can you help? or something like that. Good luck!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Ace Hardware has a few nice selections.

Here's one UK supplier, noddy. The pivots shown here are as ugly as sin but they are a pivot. Also try Woodfit and Isaac Lord in High Wycombe. Both have websites easily found.
A local hardware shop probably has nicer ones than those in the link, and it wouldn't be hard to fashion some home made ones out of a bit of brass or nylon tube and a bit of steel rod. Slainte.

Thanks for that. Have seen Isaac Lords stuff and also Martins before posting. Have decided to make my own as pivots wont do the job for me. At least I can control what it all looks like if i hand carve a piece of cherry and inset a nut into it. Thanks for everyones suggestions.
