Over the years I have tackled several refinishing projects but there is one I have never been sure of. Now my daughter has asked me to refinished this table to help her set up her first apartment.
The subject is a table that my mother gave me. A Duncan Phyfe table, she called it a “drum table”. A round mahogany table frequently seen with a leather insert in the top (this one does not have the leather insert).
My problem with this table has always been missing pieces of trim (reeding?) missing around the outside of the table.
Can anyone within this forum suggest a source of half-round molding 1/4 – 3/16 inch that will hold a mohogany stain. How do I go about applying this molding to the sides of the table?
Thanks for your help.

If this is a true DP piece you need to enlist the services of a conservator. Don't touch this piece until you know exactly what you have on your hands.
*Very good advice from CStanford--if that is a genuine D. Phyfe table your daughter could sell it and buy a new house with the proceeds.
*Mr.Molitor, One thing to keep in mind as Mr.Stanford has suggested Is that if you attempt to repair this peice you may decrease it's value immensely. Duncan Phyfe worked primarily in mahogany from Santo Domingo which is virtually impossible to obtain. Be very careful in restoring this as you may be sitting on a goldmine. GOOD LUCK!!
