I’ve been trying to cut a simple miter for the sides and ends of a box. 3/8″ x 4″ material.I am using a 10″ contractors saw which checks out square with the blade vertical. When I roll the blade over on a 45, I get a convex curve on the right side and, of course a concave cut on the matching left side? Any ideas? I have tried this on several different pieces including plywood of the same thickness and width.

Is it flat? If not, the bow/warp/etc will show up magnified on a miter cut. The other possibility is that the cut is closing up at the end of the push past the blade.
The first pieces were ever so slightly cupped. However, I switched off to some plywood which was flat and it repeated
Well,
The plywood "should" be reasonably flat (although I have erred by assuming so in the past). My next guess would be a problem with the flatness of the table itself? What shape is the blade in? (a forced cut will cause the blade to actually wobble during the cut and don't ask why I know this!) Is the arbor on the saw true? At worst, you may have to cut long and shoot the miters with a LA block plane.

Thanks for your input guys. I am leaning towards too quick of a feed with insufficient down force. I checked the blade for flatness and it is dead on. I think thee piece mustbe riding up on the top of the blade a little.
