I have the bog-standard o444 contractor saw which came with a cast-iron miter gauge. I fitted a hardwood face and extension to it, then got intrigued by the Jessem MiteRslide set up. Question: is there an intermediate solution? An after-market miter extension (extruded aluminum?) that is made to fit the Grizzly and that can accommodate flip stops etc.

There are a few aluminum extensions out there but the problem I have with everything I have seen so far is that the angle of the gauge still isn't secure with respect to its angle to the blade at all times. The flip stop deal is easy. Getting the gauge to not wobble is the hard part. I made a crosscut sled (double tracks) for keeping the angle fixed at 90. I may modify it to do angle cuts, or I may make another one that works the same way, but lets me cut accurate angles repeatedly.
