Hi All,
What is the smoothest tooth blade for a mitre saw? I get a nice cut on the top and sides but the bottom looks bad, lot of chip out.
Thanks,
Dick38

That depends on blade size. I use Freud miter blades, the red teflon coated ones. If I don't cut any metal or particle board with them, I get a year or better from them.

One thing that will help is to make a zero-clearance insert for the table. Even with a really good blade, some tearout might occur if there's not enough support underneath the stock.
I'll vote for Freud blades too (I own 3 for the table saw). What size miter saw, and what type of wood or stock (and size) are you cutting???

Hi Forest Girl,
I have a 12" slider and cut mostly 3/4" - 4x4" stock.
Thanks

I'm not seeing a 12" CMS blade in the old Freud catalog I have. I'll invite Charles-from-Freud over to give us some help. So, we're looking for a blade to cut 3/4" stock, right? Not 3/4" through 4" I hope, as that's going to cover 2 different teeth-per-blade specs.
Anywho, watch for Charles to stop by.forestgirl Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>) you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Dick 38,
Currently we offer 2 different blades that are ideal for 12" SCMS. The top of the line is the LU91R012. The other is the Diablo D1280S. A google seach should bring up both blades.Charles M

i am happy with the forrest chopmaster.
It leaves a very clean cut. little to no chip out.
I have only the stock blade to compare it to though. never tried the freud.
I swear by my FS Tools 100t 12" mitresaw blade which is on my Makita LS1212 SCMS. Glass smooth.
