Hi all — have a 60” long, 28” wide, 18” tall, 8/4” thick maple coffee table I was gluing up. It’s a waterfall table, I used biscuits on my 45 degree ends, Titebond III for glue, and clamping cauls. I glued down the cauls on each side using Titebond Genuine Hide Glue. Gluing and clamping on one side of the table went dandy.
The other side didn’t. After about 15min of it being glue and clamped I got way too Rambo and tightened one too many F clamps and the top caul came off the piece. The leg didn’t fall off and within 30min I had improvised new clamps that had moderate-at-best clamping pressure. After 12hrs I added more clamps and pressure.
How compromised is the integrity of that joint now? Should I do anything to reinforce? GIVE IT TO ME STRAIGHT DOC.
Thanks
