Mitered corner spline jig plans needed
Do you know where I can find plans to build a mitered corner spline jig for a router table? Interested in making a jewelry box and a vertical dovetail spline for the mitered corners would be ideal. If it’s done right, very little glue is needed…that’s what I heard.
Part II:
Also, need a jig for making horizontal dovetail cuts into the corners. Any suggestions? Probably the same type of jig?
Thanks in advance, Gary

Here's a description of a project using a jig with a slot cutter and router table:

Your requirements sound more complex, tho ... the above shows a simple flat spline.

Thanks for the great link!If I wanted a butterfly spline, is there such a thing as a butterfly router bit?
Same jig as Ram's link, just use a dovetail bit.
Ditto what Dick said.
I've not yet got around to making jewelry boxes, but fully intend to one day. I found the Freud bit at the end of FG's link in post 24877.3 very interesting. IMHO it looks like getting a perfect match of butterfly spline and dovetail groove would be non trivial. The jig takes care of orientation.
Mind you, the "do this to correct that problem" of sliding dovetails (general case of this problem) make my eyes cross. Not enuf experience to take it in stride, I guess.

Yes! A standard router bit AND ALOT of setup time! For BOTH pieces...Or use my Incra fence... Cut the butterfly into the miters as you want them...THEN it is just making the mating butterfly with the same bit... May take MORE than a FEW cuts to 'sneak up'on the PERFICT FIT!
