Can water base finish be applied over oil base stain?
What results can be expected by trying this?
The reason I’m asking is because I already have my project stained with Minwax oil base stain. I saw a table top done with a water base finish over paint and it looked great. The product used as the top coat was a water base finish from Michel’s craft supply store.

Hello,
I regularly finish large projects by giving everything a coat of Waterlox for a bit of coloring and warmth and then spray Hydrocote Resisthane. I give the Waterlox a day to cure and have never had any problems.
Hope this helps, Steve
Question 1 Absolutely.
Question 2 As good as your abilities.
shouldn't be any problem, as long as you let the stain dry first.I use this method regularly.
Thanks for the replies. I want to try this method because the water base finish dries so fast. The table I mentioned above received two coats in an afternoon.
